The Castellani-Andriaccio Duo entertained a crowd of over 3000 as they played with guest conductor Kazuyoshi Akiyama and the
Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra
"Two pieces for guitar duo and string orchestra in which the duo of Joanne Castellani and Michael Andriacco were splendid soloists".
"One of the guitar pieces was actually a world
premiere, the brief "Fantasia Corelliana" by Puerto Rican composer Roberto Sierra who was present for a bow when it was over. His piece is a clever confection of pseudo-Corelli".
"It was indeed Sierra's own work, with some interesting rhythmic interplay between the string group and the two soloists".
"Castellani and Andriaccio played the piece with
total assurance and rhythmic security. Problems of soloist-with-orchestra balance, always a difficulty when guitarists are involved, were nicely solved".
